Back by popular demand is the second installment of “A Week In The Wardrobe Of…” and I’m very excited about whose wardrobe we’re peaking in to today as it’s none other than director of Stye BITE favourite and all-round-fabulous vintage online shop – GiGi Vintage. The lovely Gurmeet has given The Style BITE an exclusive peek into her wardrobe; which ticks all the trend boxes – from animal print to chunky knits, vintage mixed with high street, feminine mixed with edgy, it’s safe to say Gurmeet has quite firmly become a total style crush of mine! Not to mention, GiGi Vintage is a definite go-to if you’re looking for high quality, unique vintage pieces – and I’m not the only one who thinks so, as since it’s launch, GiGi Vintage pieces have cropped up in Look Magazine, InStyle.co.uk, Now Magazine and many many more!

Enough chit chat, and onto the good stuff…

Name: Gurmeet Grewal
Director of GiGi Vintage, an online vintage fashion boutique http://www.gigivintage.co.uk/

What is YOUR fashinspiration?
A real mix of things!  I would say my mother’s 1960s-1980s wardrobe, designer looks from the catwalks, people on the street…

Talk us through a week in your wardrobe:
One thing that everyone says about me is that my wardrobe is really eclectic!  One day I’ll wear something uber grungey and the next I’ll be in something cute and girly, other days I’ll mix the two.  It just depends on my mood!  Usually on Mondays I make more of an effort in terms of how smart I dress and by Friday I’m usually in a pair of leggings and an oversized knit!  Naturally I love all things vintage, but I usually tend to mix it with high street and designer pieces.

What one thing do you hate about the fashion industry?
Mass production!  One of the reasons I love vintage clothing is that it was produced on a much smaller scale, so there was less of one style floating around.  Nowadays almost everything on the high street is produced in substantial amounts, which also has implications on the exploitation of factory workers in order to keep up with the mass of orders.

What one thing do you love about the fashion industry?
I just love the buzz around the whole fashion industry and the energy it gives off.  I find it all very exciting!  Everyone comes together to create total amazingness – be it fashion magazines or photographers, designers or models.  The industry is so powerful and influential, yet everyone has their own interpretation of fashion and they use it as a catalyst to express themselves in whichever way they wish.

Who is your favourite designer?
I don’t have one particular designer who is my fave.  I heart so many different looks and styles; for instance, I love Marc Jacobs for his girly prints, vintage style dresses and gorgeous accessories; D&G for their fun and flamboyant trend-setting pieces and Marchesa for their striking and dramatic evening dresses.

And, the most important question of all, what is your favourite outfit and why?
All of them! 😉

And there you have it, a woman after her own hearts; the owner of an amazing vintage store, that wardrobe and possibly one of the nicest people I’ve been lucky enough to interview!

As you all know, here at The Style BITE, it’s all about accessible, affordable fashion – that doesn’t mean that I don’t dream about all those glorious things that are showcased on the runway 🙂 . Not being a massive fan of red dresses [they look good on other people, but I look like Kat Slater after a bad night out in one] or a fan of lace [just feels a bit overdone sometimes!] I was pleasantly surprised to find myself liking the below little Erdem number which appeared at the Erdem S/S 11 showing…

Erdem S/S 11 Show

The look was the eighth to roll down the runway, but was an instant hit and soon after saw Michelle Williams wear it to the Blue Valentine premier, and saw Alexa Chung sporting it in the February issue of Net-a-Porter magazine.
